The Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) & Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD):

What? Who? And What to Do? Seminar

will be held Friday, January 25th.

· Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is caused by degeneration in the areas of the brain that control speech and language. This type of aphasia begins gradually, with speech or language symptoms that will vary depending on the brain areas affected by the disease. Click here to learn more.

· Frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) is a group of related conditions resulting from the progressive degeneration of the temporal and frontal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain play a significant role in decision-making, behavioral control, emotion and language.

This seminar will include a morning session for community caregivers, family and friends, featuring a lecture by Dr. Dan Kaufer, Director of the UNC-CH Memory Disorders Program, and a caregiver audience interactive discussion. (no cost)

The afternoon session, for professionals working with those living with PPA, will address assessment, treatment, and programming. The featured speaker in the afternoon is Maura English Silverman, MS, CCC/SLP, from Triangle Aphasia Project. ($25)

An optional lunch is available and must be selected during online registration.

The seminar will be held at the Archie K. Davis Center, RTP.
